Six players are tied for second place, all scoring 70. This group features American Jhared Hack, along with Indians Dhruv Suri, Jujhar Singh, Joysurjo Dey, Manav Bais, and amateur Pritish Singh Karayat. The teenager Kartik Singh is in a tie for eighth at 71, while Shubham Jaglan is another shot behind in tied 12th.
The 46-year-old golfer from Chandigarh achieved this feat with an eagle, four birdies, and two bogeys during his first round. Notably, he made an eagle from 90 yards on the sixth hole and converted several birdie putts from 15 to 25 feet, showcasing his precise approach shots.
Ram Pal expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “After not participating last year due to an injury, I am thrilled to be back. My performance in the Pre-Qualifying event at Kensville greatly boosted my confidence. Although I started poorly in the Pre-Q, I recovered with a solid 72 in the second round to qualify for the Final Stage. Today’s round was well-planned, with excellent driving and putting. It’s a fantastic start, and I aim to build on it.”
The cut after round two will allow the top 80 players (+ ties) to proceed. By the end of round four, the top 47 will secure full cards for the 2026 PGTI season.
This Qualifying School marks the commencement of the PGTI season and is one of the calendar's premier events, providing the only route for players to qualify for the season.
Over 450 golfers participated this year, including 39 international players, making it a diverse event.
A total of 77 players from the First Stage (Pre-Qualifying) will advance to the Final Stage, running from January 27 to 30, joining exempt players.
At the conclusion of the Final Stage, the top qualifiers will obtain their full cards for the 2026 PGTI season, with a total prize purse of INR 10 lakh.
