Vadodara, Feb 17 (NationPress) Renuka Singh Thakur and Georgia Wareham each claimed three wickets, showcasing a remarkable bowling display that saw the Royal Challengers Bengaluru restrict the Delhi Capitals to just 141 runs in 19.3 overs during the fourth match of WPL 2025 at Kotambi Stadium.

On a somewhat slower pitch, DC managed to score 51 runs in the first eight overs before the first time-out. Jemimah Rodrigues and captain Meg Lanning contributed significantly, forming a partnership of 59 runs for the second wicket. However, the innings took a turn for the worse as they lost five wickets by the next time-out.

Sarah Bryce scored 23 in a late attempt to lift DC’s total just above 140, providing their bowlers with a modest target. Both Renuka and Georgia made key breakthroughs in the 18th over, aided by Kim Garth and Ekta Bisht, who also took two wickets each.

Choosing to bowl first, Renuka struck early by dismissing Shafali Varma, who attempted a shot over mid-off but was caught for a golden duck. RCB’s bowlers achieved notable inward movement, leading to several lbw appeals, although they did not translate into further wickets.

Meg commenced her innings by cutting Renuka to find the gap for a boundary, followed by another drive through point. She later executed a deft cut off Kim for another four, while Jemimah added boundaries by driving past mid-off.

Jemimah intensified the scoring with a six off Ekta, followed by an impressive sequence against Joshitha VJ, which included two fours and another six. Unfortunately, her innings ended abruptly when she attempted a reverse sweep and was stumped by Richa Ghosh.

The innings deteriorated for DC after that: Meg’s inconsistent knock concluded when she was caught on a top-edge pull off Kim. Annabel Sutherland tried to break free but was dismissed by Renuka, while Jess Jonassen and Marizanne Kapp fell victim to Ekta’s bowling.

Sarah and Shikha Pandey managed a 25-run partnership before Sarah was stumped off Georgia. Following that, Radha Yadav returned a catch to Georgia, completing a simple caught and bowled. Renuka bagged her third wicket when Shikha sliced to point, with Kim wrapping up the innings by having Arundhati Reddy caught at deep mid-wicket.
