Pune, Dec 13 (NationPress) India's seam-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who achieved a remarkable hat-trick for Andhra during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League stage, emphasized the importance of striving to deliver one's best in every situation. He expressed his joy in consistently contributing positively on the field.

At the DY Patil Academy Ground in Ambi, Reddy accomplished his hat-trick against Madhya Pradesh, despite his team ultimately facing defeat. His impressive performance resulted in figures of 3-17, marking his best outing in T20 cricket.

“Participating in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy is never straightforward; it has always been a premier league. Thus, one must always strive to give their best. This marks my first hat-trick in the senior age group; I’ve experienced it before, but the feeling remains the same,” he stated.

Reddy expressed, “I derive great happiness from performing well for my state or any team. Therefore, giving my best is my commitment, and I take immense pride in it,” he conveyed in a video shared by the BCCI on their domestic cricket social media channels on Saturday.

The hat-trick was achieved in the third over, where he dismissed Harsh Gawli, Harpreet Bhatia, and Rajat Patidar. Reddy further highlighted the significance of strategy, confidence, and execution in achieving such a memorable hat-trick. “I believed that on the third ball, I needed to deliver my scrambled ball sharply inward. It worked out perfectly, resulting in the inside edge,” he explained.

“In our previous encounter during the Ranji Trophy qualifiers, I got him out similarly, with a bowled dismissal through the bat-pad gap. My aim was to replicate that, although this time it was a bit shorter. However, the movement remained consistent. The ball came in slightly, leading to a successful inside edge,” he elaborated.

“The strategy was to target the top of the off stump, and if I could achieve movement from that position, it would suffice. I managed to generate movement and secured my three wickets. I aimed for the top of off stump on the first ball, the second was a scrambled delivery that moved away just enough to catch the edge, and the third was also a scrambled ball that successfully induced the inside edge,” he concluded.
