Can Ridhima Dilawari Maintain Her Four-Shot Lead in the WPG Tour's Second Leg?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Ahmedabad, Jan 22 (NationPress) Ridhima Dilawari wrapped up the second day with a bogey, but prior to that, she remarkably achieved four consecutive birdies, finishing her round with a score of 3-under 69 to complement her initial round score of 70 in the Women's Professional Golf Tour (WPGT) held at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Having last clinched victory at Zion Hills Country Club in Bengaluru in July 2025, Ridhima now stands at 5-under over the two rounds, increasing her lead from one shot to four. In second place is amateur Zara Anand (72-71) at 1-under 143.
Jahanvi Bakshi (73-71), who made an eagle on the Par-5 fifth hole to compensate for bogeys on the second and fourth holes, managed to card 1-under 71, placing her in a tie for third with Amandeep Drall (72-72).
Currently, Ridhima, who is balancing her participation between the Hero WPG Tour and the IGPL, has established a significant lead of four shots. However, there are eight players trailing closely behind her, all within three shots of each other.
Amandeep appeared to be on track for a successful day with four birdies against two bogeys over 17 holes. Unfortunately, a double bogey on the final hole left her at even par for the second consecutive day.
Amateur Lavanya Gupta had a tumultuous round. Starting with two bogeys and a double bogey in her first three holes, she bounced back with birdies on the fourth, fifth, and eighth. However, a bogey on the ninth resulted in a 2-over score on the front nine. She recovered on the back nine with four birdies and no bogeys, finishing with a score of 70, placing her in a tie for fifth with Nayanika Sanga (73-72), both at 1-over 145.
Vani Kapoor and Saanvi Somu both recorded a second consecutive score of 73 and are tied for seventh with Sneha Singh (71-75), who dropped in the rankings during the second round. Amateur Janneya A Dasanniee (79-72), Rhea Purvi (76-75), and Lavanya Jadon (75-76) completed the Top-10, all tied at 7-over 151.
Last week’s champion, Jasmine Shekar (79-74), is currently tied for 17th place. The cut was set at 159, allowing 27 players to advance to the final round.
