Birmingham, Feb 10 (NationPress) Morgan Rogers praised Aston Villa’s exceptional display at Villa Park on Sunday, as Unai Emery’s team secured a spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur.

Villa took the lead just 58 seconds into the match, with Rogers setting up Jacob Ramsey to unleash a powerful strike past goalkeeper Antonín Kinsky. The midfielder then netted the second goal for the home side shortly after the hour mark, sealing their victory.

Rogers attributed the impressive start to the game as a crucial factor in the win, following Emery’s decision to “hit a reset button” earlier in the week.

“This week, the manager initiated a reset in terms of integrating new players. This marks the beginning of our final push until the season concludes. It all started with today and that incredible beginning. I thought we were exceptional, particularly in the first half,” he stated.

“We took the game to them, showcasing intensity, aggression, and overall quality in our play. We probably could have scored another goal; however, in terms of energy, it was fantastic, and it set us on the right track. It also engaged the crowd, which is vital when we play here. We made an excellent start,” Rogers told VillaTV.

With four of Villa’s five January signings featuring against the North London team, Rogers commended the impact each new addition has made during their brief time with the club.

He expressed hope that the competition within the squad would continue to enhance the team’s performance as they strive for a successful season finale.

“The quality of the players we brought in this week has been a significant boost. They have uplifted everyone, given their caliber and the standards we aim to achieve, which is crucial for our aspirations,” Rogers emphasized.

“The squad is now looking remarkably strong, and we hope to see some of the injured players return soon.

“Personally, it’s an exhilarating feeling. This week has felt different. We were eager for this match and aimed to deliver a strong performance, and we accomplished that,” he concluded.
