Rohit Sharma Emphasizes Strengthening India-Australia Ties in Australian Parliament

Canberra, Nov 28 (NationPress) Rohit Sharma praised the strong ties between India and Australia in his address at the Australian Parliament on Thursday, expressing his commitment to leverage the series-winning momentum during the ongoing tour.

The Indian team met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who hosted a reception at the Federal Parliament House ahead of the scheduled tour match.

'India and Australia share a rich history, whether in sports or trade relations. Over the years, we have cherished our visits to this beautiful part of the world, competing in cricket and experiencing the diverse culture of the nation. Australia presents a unique challenge for players due to the passion and competitiveness of its people. This is why it has always been an exciting challenge for us to come here and play cricket,' Rohit stated during his speech.

'We have achieved some success in the past, and as we aim to build on that momentum, we also wish to immerse ourselves in the local culture. The variety across the cities provides us with a unique experience. We truly enjoy our visits here and hope to entertain both the Australian audience and the Indian supporters present, as they play a significant role in helping us reach our goals. It’s never an easy task,' he added.

'We are eager to play some cricket while also enjoying the beauty of this country. As we all know, it’s a wonderful place. We look forward to an exciting month ahead. We are all thrilled and hope to bring joy to our fans. Thank you, sir, for welcoming us here. It’s a privilege,' Rohit concluded.

The Indian squad arrived in Canberra from Perth on Thursday morning. They are set to play a day-and-night match against the Prime Minister’s XI at Manuka Oval on Saturday.

India achieved a significant 295-run victory over Australia in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-Test series.

The second Test, which will be a day-night match, is scheduled to be held from December 6 to 10 in Adelaide.
