New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) Rohit Sharma, one of the most accomplished players in IPL history, discussed how his role has transformed over the years within the Mumbai Indians franchise, from adjusting to various positions to leading the team to victory. He noted that while many things have changed since his debut, his passion and determination to secure wins and championships for the team have remained constant.

Rohit has experienced his most challenging IPL start since 2020. He struggled to perform in the first few matches of IPL 2025, getting out for a duck in the opening game against Chennai Super Kings. He faced another setback in the match against the Gujarat Titans, where MI lost by 36 runs, scoring only 8 runs, followed by a mere 13 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders, where he participated as an Impact Sub.

"Since my journey began, things have certainly changed. I used to bat in the middle order; now, I’m opening the innings. I was the captain; now, I’m not. Some of my teammates from our championship-winning seasons have transitioned into coaching roles. So, roles have evolved, a lot has transformed, but the mindset remains unchanged.

"What I aim to achieve for this team has not wavered, and that is to step onto the field and win games and trophies. That is the legacy of Mumbai Indians. Over the years, we have clinched trophies and turned around matches from situations that seemed hopeless. This is the essence of MI and Mumbai," Rohit expressed during JioHotstar's exclusive segment ‘Charcha with Rohit Sharma’.

Rohit, the most decorated IPL captain with five titles, further elaborated on the newcomers to the Mumbai Indians this season, stating, "Players like Trent Boult, who have previously been with us, bring a wealth of experience and understand the MI culture. We also have Mitchell Santner, the captain of New Zealand, who contributes both experience and finesse. Players such as Will Jacks and Reece Topley introduce variety, while Ryan Rickelton presents an exciting young talent.

"Each of these individuals contributes uniquely to the team, and when combined as a cohesive unit, it creates a significant impact. We also have numerous young Indian talents with immense potential, and I am eager to compete alongside them. My immediate objective is to capture the TATA IPL trophy and restore glory to the Mumbai Indians," he added.
