New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) Rohit Sharma, recognized as one of the most accomplished players in IPL history, shared insights into how his role has transformed over the years within the Mumbai Indians organization. He emphasized that while many things have changed since his debut, his unwavering passion and commitment to securing victories and trophies for the franchise remain intact.

Rohit has experienced his most challenging IPL start since 2020. In the ongoing IPL 2025, he has struggled significantly, failing to perform in the first few matches, including a duck in the season opener against the Chennai Super Kings. His performance continued to falter in the match against the Gujarat Titans, where MI lost by 36 runs, as he managed only 8 runs, followed by a mere 13 in the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders, where he played as an Impact Sub.

"Since I began, numerous aspects have evidently changed. I transitioned from batting in the middle order to now opening the innings. I was once the captain, and now I'm not. Some of my teammates from our championship-winning seasons have transitioned into coaching roles. Although roles have evolved, my mindset remains unchanged.

"My objective for this team has not wavered; it's to go out there and win games and trophies. That’s what the Mumbai Indians are celebrated for. Over the years, we’ve clinched trophies and turned matches around from situations that seemed impossible. That essence defines MI and Mumbai," Rohit stated during JioHotstar's special segment ‘Charcha with Rohit Sharma’.

Rohit, the most successful IPL captain ever with five titles to his credit, also discussed new additions to the Mumbai Indians squad this season, saying, "Players like Trent Boult, who has prior experience here, contribute significantly and grasp MI’s culture. We also have Mitchell Santner, the New Zealand captain, who brings both experience and finesse. New talents like Will Jacks and Reece Topley offer diversity, while Ryan Rickelton is an exciting young talent."

"All these players contribute unique elements to the team, and when combined as a cohesive unit, they create a substantial impact. We also have many young Indian players with immense potential, and I am eager to play alongside them. My immediate goal is to secure the TATA IPL trophy and restore the glory to Mumbai Indians," he concluded.
