Hyderabad, April 24 (NationPress) Mumbai Indians pacer Trent Boult has sung the praises of seasoned opener Rohit Sharma after the former MI captain delivered consecutive half-centuries, propelling the five-time champions back into playoff contention in IPL 2025.
After MI's commanding seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, Boult commended Rohit as a world-class player whose current form could be pivotal in the team's pursuit of a record-extending sixth title.
"The entire Mumbai Indians squad is filled with world-class talent, and certainly, Rohit is a player that requires no introduction," Boult stated during the post-match press conference.
"Everyone aims to contribute, but Rohit is performing exceptionally well at the right moment. He will play a significant role for us in the upcoming matches. It's essential to be ready for any role," he added.
Rohit’s impressive knock of 70 runs off 46 balls enabled MI to chase down a modest target of 144 in just 15.4 overs, following Boult’s sharp new-ball spell of 4-26 that dismantled SRH’s top order. This victory not only kept MI’s playoff hopes alive but also significantly improved their net run rate, propelling them to third place on the points table.
