Hyderabad, March 23 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Royals (RR) interim captain Riyan Parag won the toss and chose to bowl first against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during the second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday.

Parag will serve as captain for RR in the initial three matches, as the regular leader Sanju Samson will only participate as a specialist batter during this period.

"We’re bowling first. It appears to be a dry pitch, so we’ll take our chance later. (Regarding captaincy) It’s significant for me, as I started my journey here at 17. I’m thrilled to be stepping into such big shoes. The impact rule is beneficial with Sanju’s presence. We’ve kept most of our core, which aids our batting order. The other three overseas players include Theekshana, Jofra, and Farooqi. It’s always advantageous to start strong; we’ve trained extensively," Parag stated at the toss.

Conversely, SRH captain Pat Cummins voiced confidence in his squad to build on the previous season's success. Ishan Kishan and Abhinav Manohar are set to make their debuts for SRH.

"It’s fantastic to be back. The core of our team remains unchanged, and the coaching team is consistent too. I don’t believe it matters whether we bat or bowl first. It’s pretty warm, so I don’t mind bowling later. We aim to maintain last season’s form. We always encourage our players to play with freedom. Abhi and Heady will hopefully continue from last year, alongside Nitish and Klassen. Ishan Kishan and Abhinav Manohar will be debuting," he remarked.
