Chandigarh, Feb 22 (NationPress) Sahil from Punjab seized the chance to outpace his more renowned competitors, securing the top spot in the men's half marathon walk (21km) on the concluding day of the 13th edition of the Indian Open Race Walk Competition held here on Sunday.

In an exhilarating finish, the 24-year-old Sahil demonstrated remarkable endurance to fend off seasoned race walker Servin Sebastian from Tamil Nadu, clinching the gold medal with a remarkable time of 1:25:48.00.

Servin Sebastian claimed the silver with a time of 1:25:50.00, while the bronze medal went to Hardeep from Haryana, who finished with a time of 1:26:03.00.

Paramjeet Singh Bisht, a participant in the upcoming Paris Olympics representing Uttarakhand, finished in fourth place with a time of 1:26:07.00. Another notable athlete, Akshdeep Singh from Punjab, a former national record holder over 20km, finished seventh with a time of 1:27:37.00.

Vikash Singh from Delhi secured the 10th position, clocking 1:30:41.00, while Suraj Panwar from Uttarakhand did not complete the race.
