Chennai, Sep 7 (NationPress) A fresh set of tyres and exceptional effort propelled Pune's young talent, Sarthak Chavan (Petronas TVS Racing), to a sensational victory in the prestigious Pro-Stock 301-400cc category, marking a successful conclusion to the third round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2025 at the Madras International Circuit on Sunday.
This victory, being Sarthak's third of the season, brings him within nine points of the previous day's Race-1 champion, Rahil Pillarisetty (RACR Castrol Power1), who, recovering from an off-track incident involving another rider, managed to secure second place ahead of his teammate, Rajini Krishnan.
In other categories, Md Samrul Zubair (Hyderabad, Motul Sparks Racing) clinched his second victory in four races within the Super Stock 165cc Intermediate class, while Jagathishre Kumaresan from Chennai completed a remarkable double in the Girls (Stock 165cc) event, triumphing over former National champion Ann Jennifer (Motul Sparks Racing). Additionally, Mohamed Mikail from Thiruvallur also achieved a double, making significant strides on the Stock 301-400cc (Novice) leaderboard.
Bengaluru's Savion Sabu (Mad Rabbit Racing) returned to winning form in the Pro-Stock 200cc Open race, effectively bouncing back from a challenging qualifying round (11th) and Race-1 (9th) due to mechanical issues, which were addressed overnight. CS Kedarnadh from Tirupati also survived a nail-biting finish to grab his second win of the season in the Stock 165cc (Novice) class.
The day's highlight was the intense showdown in the Pro-Stock 301-400cc Open race, which turned into a fierce battle between championship leader Rahil Pillarisetty from Hyderabad on a Yamaha R3 and Sarthak riding the factory-supported TVS Apache RR 310. The two have been consistently delivering thrilling finishes throughout the season, both winning three races after three rounds.
During the race, Sarthak showcased remarkable speed, recovering positions after initially dropping to fourth place following a strong start. “I lost my lead early on and fell to fourth, trailing behind three RACR riders, including Rahil, Rajini, and Anish (Shetty). I managed to overtake two of them and executed a solid maneuver on Rahil at Turn 4 in the final lap, riding defensively before pushing harder. Yesterday, I struggled with rear wheel spin due to the qualifying tyre, but today the new tyres made a significant difference,” Sarthak stated. Last weekend, he celebrated his sixth consecutive podium finish in the Asia Road Racing Championship in Indonesia and currently ranks second in the TVS Asia championship.
Local competitor G Balaji successfully defended against fellow-Chennai rider and championship leader Mohan Babu P to secure his second win of the season in the Expert (Apache RR 310) category.
Hari Haran from Coimbatore solidified his lead in the Rookie (Apache RTR 200) class with his fourth victory in six races, followed by Joshua A from Bengaluru, who finished 19 seconds behind in second place, and Akarsh Jangam from Vijayawada.
Sarthak Chavan continued his dominance in the TVS Electric RTE category with his third consecutive win, while his main rival Chiranth Vishwanath from Bengaluru finished in second place, mirroring previous race outcomes, and Mohamed Mikail from Thiruvallur took third.
In the Honda CB 300F category, Raivat Dhar from Jammu achieved a commendable victory, marking his second win of the season, establishing himself as a strong contender for the championship in this category. Solomon R from Chennai secured second place, bolstering his lead in the standings, while Tejash BA from Tumakuru came in third.
