Pune, Sep 16 (NationPress) Sarthak Chavan, representing Petronas TVS Racing, has returned to India following a remarkable performance in the Asia TVS One Make Championship overseas, where he showcased his skills against elite international racers.
Upon his return, he participated in the MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship at the Madras International Circuit, experiencing a mixed weekend that culminated in a thrilling victory in the final race after achieving a triple podium finish.
During the Asia TVS One Make series, a support category of the Asian Road Racing Championship, Chavan earned podium finishes in seven out of eight races held across four international venues: Chang, Sepang, Motegi, and Mandalika this season.
His outstanding performances have kept him firmly in contention for the championship, trailing the leader by a mere three points with more races on the horizon. A highlight of his campaign was at Round 4 in Mandalika, Indonesia, where he finished second in both races.
In Race 2, starting from fifth on the grid, Chavan skillfully maneuvered through the pack to challenge Ramdan Rosli in an exhilarating eight-lap race. He briefly seized the lead on the final lap but was narrowly edged out by Rosli at the finish line by just 0.007 seconds, marking one of the closest finishes in the series. Luis Miguel took third place, while fellow Indian riders Chiranth Vishwanath and Rakshith Sri Hari Dave finished sixth and eighth, respectively.
Earlier in his career, Chavan had already made a name for himself as one of India’s most promising young riders. Born on October 30, 2006 in Pune, he became the youngest champion at just 16 years old in the Pro-Stock 301–400cc Open class of the MMSC FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship, clinching his first national title in October 2024 after winning nine out of ten races.
Introduced to the sport at the tender age of six by his father and nurtured by coach Amol Talpade, a multiple-time national champion, he has rapidly ascended through the local ranks and successfully transitioned to the international stage this season.
Back in India, his impressive form continues. At the recent National Championship round in Chennai, he secured podium finishes in all three races he participated in.
He demonstrated his resilience by winning the Pro-Stock 301–400cc Open Race 2 on the final day after finishing second in Race 1 behind Rahil Pillarisetty on Saturday. He also topped the TVS Electric RTE class, showcasing his versatility and adaptability across different formats.
Chavan’s next challenge awaits at Round 5, scheduled from October 10 to 12 at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, followed by the concluding Round 6 from December 5 to 7 at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand.
