New Delhi, Sep 14 (NationPress) Ruben Amorim is contemplating giving Benjamin Sesko his inaugural Premier League start during the upcoming Manchester derby against City.
The striker, who transferred from RB Leipzig in the recent transfer window, has featured as a substitute in all three of Manchester United's league matches to date.
He played the entirety of the game against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup and successfully converted his penalty during the shootout, although he has been gradually integrated into the squad.
After accumulating more playing time with Slovenia during the international break, he might be poised to enter the starting lineup and take on the Blues at the Etihad Stadium.
"I believe that more than just analyzing his past performances, it’s what he can contribute to our team," Amorim stated regarding Sesko in a recent press conference.
"For instance, against Burnley, he displayed movements inside the box that we lack with Josh Zirkzee, Matheus Cunha, and previously with Rasmus Hojlund.
"We have a player eager to get into the box for headers, and he possesses the speed we need to capitalize on. He will improve as he adjusts to the pace of play, and perhaps, facing City could be the ideal moment for him to start!"
Amorim also addressed how he is mentoring Kobbie Mainoo, who has had limited minutes, believing the midfielder has significant potential for growth.
With Mainoo having made only one start this season, Ruben was asked about his views on Mainoo’s skills, potential, and future.
“Like many others, he desires more playing time. I have a strong belief in Kobbie; however, some might think he has already reached his limit. I see so much more potential in him. He can still enhance his game significantly.
“While some may feel his current performance level is satisfactory, I believe for him, it’s just the beginning. It may not seem fair, but I’m committed to assisting Kobbie Mainoo in his development,” he added.
