Manchester, Aug 15 (NationPress) Ruben Amorim is confident that Benjamin Sesko possesses all the qualities necessary to become a long-term striker for Manchester United. Sesko finalized his transfer from RB Leipzig last weekend, and the Red Devils' head coach indicated that the number 30 is in prime physical condition to participate in Sunday’s Premier League opener against Arsenal.
When asked about Benjamin's addition to a revitalized attacking lineup that already features new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, Ruben responded with enthusiasm.
The Portuguese manager highlighted Sesko’s versatility, eagerness to learn, and profound passion for the game.
“I see immense potential in everything he undertakes. He can adapt to various styles of play. The Premier League is known for its intensity; he will learn quickly, but his potential is extraordinary, and I envision Ben being a striker for Manchester United for many years,” he stated.
“This is precisely why we invested significantly – to secure a striker who will build a legacy at our club. He is constantly thinking about football. His obsession with the game is beneficial, as it's one less thing to worry about with such a young talent.
“I don’t need to remind Ben that this is Manchester United, where the pressure to perform is high. He must be ready for the physical demands and the importance of every match,” Amorim added during his pre-game conference.
The Red Devils will commence their 2025/26 campaign with a home fixture against Arsenal on Sunday. Amorim also shared that Andre Onana and Joshua Zirkzee have recovered from their injuries that sidelined them during pre-season and are available to play against the Gunners.
Sesko is in contention for his debut, while defenders Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez are likely to miss out. Amorim aims to outmaneuver Mikel Arteta’s revamped squad, who finished as runners-up in the league last season.
“Nous and Licha won’t be available for this match. Josh and Andre are fit and will be options, we’ll see,” he added.
When asked if Sesko is prepared to start as a center-forward, Amorim affirmed, “Absolutely. Although we haven't had much time, he is ready. Firstly, he’s physically prepared, which is crucial in our league.
“Moreover, he is very intelligent. He asks about every detail and is always thinking ahead. He dedicates his afternoons to working on his fitness, so he’s ready to contribute; we’ll see if he starts.”
