New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) The Shooting League of India (SLI) announced on Thursday the inclusion of UP Prometheans, a franchise based in Uttar Pradesh, for its inaugural season set to occur from February 16 to 26, 2026.
This new team enhances the league’s expanding presence and underscores its aim of establishing a strong, inclusive framework for the sport of shooting in India.
In welcoming the UP Prometheans to the league, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), expressed, “We are thrilled to introduce UP Prometheans into the Shooting League of India community. Uttar Pradesh possesses substantial sporting potential, and a franchise with a solid educational and developmental ethos adds tremendous value to the league.”
The UP Prometheans franchise is owned by Mukesh Sharma, who is the founder and chairperson of Prometheus, an international school located in Noida.
“Mukesh Sharma’s dedication to fostering opportunities through infrastructure and education resonates perfectly with SLI’s vision—to cultivate a sustainable ecosystem that nurtures talent, inspires youth, and elevates Indian shooting to new heights,” added Deo.
Notably, the Prometheus School integrates shooting as a structured sport starting from Grade 5 (for children aged 9 and above), focusing on enhancing technical skills, mental toughness, precision, and hand-eye coordination among its students.
The school boasts an Olympic-standard indoor shooting facility featuring a 10-meter range equipped with 10 manual targets and one SIUS electronic target system. The range is also outfitted with two electronic pistols and one rifle, ensuring that all training and operations adhere strictly to ISSF regulations.
Students receive coaching from certified professionals, benefiting from support by Khelo India (SAI) talent identification experts, and regularly participate in workshops and seminars led by Arjuna Awardees and Olympians.
Reflecting the school’s growing influence, athletes from Prometheus are currently competing at the national level, including Siya Marwah, Vaivaswat Vijay Singh Deo, Siana Monga, Sidhaan Gandhi, Ayaana Chinaria, Aarish Goel, and Ayaan Khan—showcasing how access to world-class facilities enables young shooters to pursue high-performance pathways.
On the franchise’s entry into the league, the owner of UP Prometheans stated, “Shooting is among India’s most prominent Olympic sports, and Uttar Pradesh harbors the talent and potential to play a much larger role in this journey.
“Through the UP Prometheans, our goal is to develop a structured, professional platform where athletes receive the appropriate infrastructure, coaching, and competitive exposure. The Shooting League of India is a vital step in strengthening the ecosystem, and I am excited to be part of this inaugural season.”
