Hina Bano (6’) initiated the scoring for Soorma Hockey Club, with Sonam (47’) extending their lead in the final quarter. Freeke Moes (57’) managed to pull one back for the Warriors but could not alter the final result.
The Odisha Warriors kicked off the match aggressively, with Baljeet Kaur charging into the opponent’s circle, compelling Soorma’s goalkeeper Savita to make an early save. Shortly after, Soorma Hockey Club launched a counterattack via Ajmina Kujur on the left, finding Hina Bano, who deftly redirected the ball past Jocelyn Bartram to score the match’s first goal.
The Warriors responded with Sakshi Rana earning a penalty corner minutes later, but Ishika Chaudhary could not convert it into a goal. They pressed on for an equalizer, with Freeke Moes missing a chance toward the quarter's end.
The second quarter saw a flurry of activity as both teams tried to penetrate each other’s defenses. Soorma Hockey Club created more opportunities but lacked precision in finishing. With six minutes remaining in the quarter, Freeke Moes earned another penalty corner for the Warriors, but Claire Colwill was denied by Savita.
As the third quarter began, Soorma’s Salima Tete and Sonam posed a threat, evading defenders and winning a penalty corner, though Salima could not convert the deflection from Penny Squibb. Freeke continued to shine for the Warriors, earning yet another penalty corner three minutes before the quarter ended, but Yibbi Jansen’s flick was expertly saved by Savita.
In the fourth quarter, the Odisha Warriors sought to equalize but fell victim to a counterattack. Charlotte Englebert assisted Sonam, who nimbly flicked the ball into the net, doubling Soorma’s lead. The Warriors regrouped, attempting to create scoring chances, but Soorma remained steadfast defensively.
However, with three minutes to go, Freeke intercepted the ball high up the pitch and unleashed a powerful reverse shot past Savita, reigniting the Warriors hopes. Despite this, Soorma held firm to secure their second win.
