New Delhi, July 30 (NationPress) As India and Pakistan prepare to clash once more in the World Championship of Legends semifinals, the situation surrounding the match is uncertain. This follows the announcement from a leading tournament sponsor, stating that it will not be associated with the India vs Pakistan match in WCL.
The prominent sponsor, EaseMyTrip, has officially pulled its support from the India-Pakistan WCL semifinal, reinforcing its long-standing policy of abstaining from any events involving Pakistan.
"We commend Team India @India_Champions for their remarkable performance in the World Championship of Legends; you have made the nation proud. However, the forthcoming semi-final against Pakistan transcends mere sport. Terror and cricket cannot coexist. @EaseMyTrip stands with India. We cannot endorse any event that seeks to normalize relations with a nation that fosters terrorism.
"The voice of the Indian populace has been heard, and we will not participate in the India vs Pakistan match in WCL. Some principles outweigh sport. Nation first, business later, always," declared Nishant Pitti, co-founder of the travel-tech firm, in a statement.
Previously, the India-Pakistan league stage match was officially canceled due to strong objections from Indian players and a principal tournament sponsor, following the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year, which heightened military tensions between the two countries.
"Even with a five-year sponsorship agreement with WCL, our position has always been clear—EaseMyTrip will not engage with or take part in any WCL match involving Pakistan," the company stated. "We proudly continue to support the India Champions but will not promote any match that includes Pakistan. This stance was clearly communicated to the WCL team from the outset. Bharat First. Always," EaseMyTrip emphasized.
