The team triumphed over England in the final match, showcasing outstanding skill and determination.
The Indian PD Cricket Team, endorsed by the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) and the accessibility organization Svayam, received accolades at the Sports Authority of India on Friday.
Mandaviya highlighted the government's dedication to supporting athletes with disabilities, referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for inclusive sports involvement.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged commitment towards 'divyang' athletes. Being a 'divyang' individual does not mean you cannot bring pride to the nation. Your victory serves as proof of that. The dedication displayed by the Indian PD Cricket Team, from the intense selection process to their performance in Sri Lanka, underscores your incredible resilience. Winning 5 out of 6 matches and defeating England, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan is truly commendable," Mandaviya stated.
The selection of the Indian PD Cricket Team occurred in Udaipur, where over 450 cricketers from 28 states participated in the Nationals. From this group, 56 were chosen for the Challenger Trophy in Jaipur, and 17 were selected to represent India.
Highlighting the increasing accomplishments of specially-abled athletes, from the Paris Paralympics to the PD Champions Trophy 2025, Mandaviya remarked, "Our 'divyang' athletes provide us with countless reasons to take pride and motivate us to enhance our support for them. The government stands by you, and you should leverage your success to inspire more youth through various platforms."
The event was attended by the entire team, coaches, DCCI General Secretary Ravikant Chauhan, Svayam Founder-Chairperson Sminu Jindal, and officials from the Sports Ministry.
