New Delhi, April 10 (NationPress) Suruchi secured her second medal in this competition, while former Asian Games champion Saurabh Chaudhary earned an International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) medal after a two-year hiatus. The duo clinched the bronze by defeating compatriots Manu Bhaker and Ravinder Singh in the 10m air pistol mixed team match with a score of 16-8 on the final day of the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun Argentina 2025.
With two Indian Olympians competing on either side, Saurabh demonstrated exceptional consistency, securing the match with a score of 10.7 in the final series.
Previously, the Indian pairs had placed third and fourth in the qualification stage, trailing two Chinese teams. Suruchi and Saurabh achieved a combined score of 581, while Manu and Ravinder scored 579. The Chinese teams both led the qualifiers with 582.
Initially, it was challenging to distinguish between the two Indian pairs, as both were tied at six points after the first six series of shots.
Suruchi and Saurabh then surged ahead, winning three consecutive series, and despite Manu and Ravinder's efforts to recover, it proved insufficient.
This victory marks India’s eighth medal at the Argentina World Cup, contributing to a tally of four golds, two silvers, and two bronzes.
On the penultimate day of the event, India's 10m air rifle mixed team combination of Rudrankksh Patil and Arya Rajesh Borse won a silver medal, losing to the formidable Chinese pair of Wang Zifei and Song Buhan with a score of 9-17 in the gold medal match.
