Ahmedabad, Dec 8 (NationPress) With just one day left until the eagerly awaited Tennis Premier League (TPL) Season 7, occurring from December 9-14 at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium in Ahmedabad, the eight competing teams are intensely gearing up to claim the coveted title.

Featuring support from tennis legends such as Leander Paes, Sania Mirza, and Mahesh Bhupathi, this year’s edition guarantees an exhilarating week of tennis, showcasing TPL’s unique and rapid format as franchises vie for supremacy.

Each team will engage in five league matches from December 9-13, with the top four teams moving on to the semi-finals and the final on December 14. TPL’s distinctive structure includes four rounds per match - Women’s Singles, Mixed Doubles, Men’s Singles, and Men’s Doubles - each worth 25 points, culminating in a total of 100 points per match.

This season boasts an impressive mix of international stars ranked within the top 50 globally, alongside India’s finest talents, with each franchise featuring a marquee player to spearhead their efforts.

The SG Pipers will be captained by Indian tennis icon and two-time Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna, who will be joined by India’s No.2 women’s singles player, Shrivalli Bhamidipaty, and Ramkumar Ramnathan.

The Rajasthan Rangers will count on the formidable World No. 26 Luciano Darderi from Italy, alongside Anastasia Gasanova from Russia and Dhakshineswar Suresh. The Gurgaon Grand Slammers will depend on Britain’s Daniel Evans, who achieved a career-high ranking of No. 21 in 2023, teaming up with India’s leading female singles player, Sahaja Yamalapalli, and Sriram Balaji. The Gujarat Panthers will be led by France’s World No. 42 Alexandre Muller, supported by Italy’s Nuria Brancaccio and India’s Anirudh Chandrasekhar.

The reigning champions Hyderabad Strikers are determined to secure the trophy once more, led by Spain’s Pedro Martinez, currently ranked No. 93. He will be accompanied by fellow Spaniard Carole Monnet from France, and Vishnu Vardhan from India, returning as an experienced doubles veteran.

Bosnia’s former World No. 23 Damir Dzhumhur is the star of the Yash Mumbai Eagles, joined by Burundi’s Sada Nahimana and Indian talent Niki Poonacha. The GS Delhi Aces will showcase Britain’s No. 4 ranked player Billy Harris, 20-year-old Belgian Sofia Costoulas, and Indian left-hander Jeevan Nedunchezchiyan. The Chennai Smashers will rely on skilled Czech player Dalibor Svrcina, Romania’s Irina Bara, and India’s doubles specialist Rithvik Bollipalli.
