Liverpool, May 27 (NationPress) Football clubs, players, and governing bodies have shown their support and sympathy for Liverpool following a shocking incident where a man drove a car into a gathering of fans celebrating the team’s Premier League title victory in the city center.

During the parade celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League title on Monday (local time), a car veered into a crowd of supporters, resulting in injuries to 27 individuals, with two people reported in critical condition. Authorities have stated that they do not consider the event to be terrorism-related. A 53-year-old man from the Liverpool area, suspected to be the driver, has been taken into custody.

Liverpool FC confirmed they are 'in direct communication with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street, which occurred near the conclusion of the trophy parade earlier this evening.'

'Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this serious incident. We pledge our full support to the emergency services and local authorities managing this situation,' the club stated.

The Premier League expressed its solidarity in a statement, emphasizing its shock over the distressing events in Liverpool.

'Everyone at the Premier League is deeply saddened by the alarming occurrences in Liverpool this evening, and our heartfelt condolences go out to all those injured and impacted. We have reached out to Liverpool FC and provided our complete support following this serious incident,' they shared on X.

'Our thoughts are with Liverpool FC and the city following today’s tragic event,' tweeted Manchester United, historically Liverpool’s fiercest competitor.

Everton, Liverpool’s neighbor on Merseyside, also shared similar sentiments: 'Our thoughts are with all those affected by this serious incident in our city,' they remarked.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed his condolences and support to those affected by this tragic event, voicing solidarity on behalf of the global football community.

'Football unites in support of Liverpool FC and all its fans following this horrific incident,' he tweeted.
