Jaipur, Sep 15 (NationPress) UP Yoddhas are set to face the Bengal Warriorz at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium during their upcoming Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) match on September 16.
The Yoddhas are determined to secure a vital victory, aiming to recapture the impressive form showcased earlier in the season. Despite the recent game outcomes, there have been numerous positives for UP. Known for their strong defense, the team has also consistently executed their powerful offensive strategies.
Leading the charge is the agile Gagan Gowda, who has amassed 62 points in just five matches, placing him fifth among the top raiders this season.
He has received significant support from Guman Singh, who has contributed 19 points, proving crucial during critical moments of various matches. Bhavani Rajput, with 14 points, has also shone, offering the Yoddhas a well-rounded and comprehensive attacking front.
“Every team is delivering strong performances in the league. We’ve had instances where we could have secured a few more victories. It's essential to minimize errors and ensure that both our defensive and offensive teams work in unison. Additionally, during crucial moments, we must recognize the opportunities and capitalize on them. Gagan has been performing at an exceptional level, and we expect the other players to rise to the occasion and deliver better results,” said UP Yoddhas assistant coach Upendra Malik ahead of the match.
On average, UP has achieved 21.4 raid points per match, ranking fifth in the league. Gagan’s four super raids are the highest in the competition, and he has also recorded the same number of Super 10s. With an average of 12.4 raid points per game, he stands out as one of the tournament's most effective raiders. Captain Sumit Sangwan has secured an average of 3.8 tackle points per match, the highest among all players in the league.
Meanwhile, the Bengal Warriorz have struggled at the start of their season, suffering four consecutive losses. Their campaign has faltered since their initial victory against the defending champions, Haryana Steelers, and the Yoddhas are eager to capitalize on this situation and regain their momentum.
