Kolkata, March 17 (NationPress) As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 approaches, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler Vaibhav Arora is dedicated to enhancing his abilities and refining his skills in anticipation of the upcoming challenges. The 28-year-old from Ambala, who debuted with the team in 2023, has secured 36 wickets in 32 matches, boasting an impressive strike rate of 17.72. He played a pivotal role in KKR's victorious run during IPL 2024, taking 11 wickets in just 10 matches.

As the squad prepares for the season ahead, Arora has been diligently working during the training camp to elevate various facets of his bowling technique. “Our preparations are robust. We’re engaging in practice matches and refining our bowling variations in the nets. As a fast bowler, it’s essential to prepare thoroughly and enhance your skills to execute them effectively in matches,” he stated.

Arora is particularly enthusiastic about collaborating with former teammate Tim Southee, who is now the bowling coach for this season. The ex-New Zealand captain brings a wealth of experience, having taken over 700 international wickets and previously playing for KKR from 2021 to 2023.

Looking back at his time with Southee, Arora commented, “Tim Southee is a bowling icon with immense experience. We were teammates at KKR in 2023, and I gained valuable insights from him. Now, as our bowling coach, I’ll have the opportunity to learn more directly from him, which I'm really looking forward to.”

Recognized for his prowess with the new ball, Arora aims to broaden his skill set and adapt to the various conditions he might encounter during the season. “At Eden Gardens last year, the new ball offered swing for only the initial three to four overs. After that, conditions change, and the nature of the pitch means variations become crucial,” he elaborated.

In light of this, Arora has been focusing on perfecting his variations and enhancing his execution, strategies that proved effective in the previous season. “Last year, we had success with yorkers using the new ball. As a bowler, it’s vital to leverage the dimensions of the ground and select deliveries wisely against each batsman,” he noted.

He also emphasized the significance of pace and precision in executing different lengths during T20 matches. “Having the right pace is critical when aiming to deliver a hard-length ball to restrict batters’ movement. When conditions allow, slow balls and slower bouncers, alongside yorkers, become vital,” he remarked.

Looking forward, Arora expressed that the team is focused on maintaining their preparation and getting ready for the next training phase in Kolkata. “Our mindset is set on moving to the next camp in Kolkata, ensuring we are both mentally and physically prepared to give our all,” he concluded.
