New Delhi, May 30 (NationPress) Bharat Arun, the former bowling coach of India, is set to lead a 14-day specialized training camp for elite men's and women's cricketers in Sri Lanka. Arun has recently concluded his role as the fast-bowling coach for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2025.
In a recent announcement, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) revealed that Arun's initiative aims to refine the skill sets of fast bowlers in both junior and senior teams at the High-Performance Centre starting June 2, where he will also commence training with the U19 national team.
During his time in Sri Lanka, he will collaborate with the national men’s and women’s teams, the women’s ‘A’ team, the U19 men’s team, as well as coaches from the High-Performance Center, club, and provincial levels.
“Arun, who was the bowling coach for Team India from 2014 to 2021, will conduct exclusive strategy sessions for the men’s red ball and white ball squads. He will also engage in technical and skill-focused training with fast bowlers, alongside video analysis and performance evaluation sessions with players and coaches to enhance their ‘game’ understanding,” SLC added.
This training camp comes ahead of the men’s team hosting Bangladesh for a series across all formats at home, while the women’s team gears up for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup set to take place in India later this year.
Since 2024, SLC has been enlisting foreign coaches for short-term programs; last year, they engaged Zubin Bharucha, high-performance director of Rajasthan Royals, to elevate their batting standards.
More recently, SLC welcomed former India fielding coach R Sridhar, who served from 2014 to 2021, to implement a thorough 10-day fielding program for the men’s and women’s teams, including emerging squads, premier club players, the national U19 team, and women’s 'A' side.
