Mumbai, Feb 27 (NationPress) Vani Kapoor utilized her extensive experience to secure a pivotal birdie on the back nine, clinching the fourth leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour (WPGT) 2025 at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club Ltd here on Thursday. This victory marked Vani’s first triumph in 2025 and her initial win since her success at the DLF Golf and Country Club during the 12th leg of the 2024 season.

At 31 years old, Vani encountered challenges with bogeys on the 11th and 13th holes, placing her behind two amateurs, Saanvi Somu, the overnight leader, and Anuradha Chaudhuri, as they all played together in the final group.

A significant shift occurred when Vani birdied the Par-4 15th hole, while Anuradha suffered a bogey, resulting in a two-shot swing and leaving Anuradha trailing.

Saanvi, who was even-par with five holes remaining and in the lead, also bogeyed the 15th, dropping to one-over and tying with Vani. Despite having finished as runner-up four times previously, Saanvi parred the 16th but lost ground with bogeys on the 17th and 18th, both of which were parred by Vani and Anuradha.

Thanks to these pars, Vani maintained her lead, finishing at 1-under 69 for the day and a total of 1-over 211. Anuradha finished at 2-over, securing second place, while Saanvi fell to 3-over, tying for third with Sneha Singh (66) and Ridhima Dilawari (67), who had earlier taken the clubhouse lead at 3-over.

Vani started her day strong, achieving two birdies on the initial holes but faced eight consecutive pars after that. Despite the bogeys on the 11th and 13th, her birdie on the 15th sealed her victory.

Anuradha played steadily with one birdie and one bogey, the latter proving detrimental, while Sneha and Ridhima produced the day’s best scores. Sneha was bogey-free with a 66, and Ridhima shot a 67, with four birdies versus one bogey.

Saanvi recorded three birdies and five bogeys, three of which occurred in the final four holes, preventing her from securing a maiden win while still an amateur.

In the standings, Lavanya Jadon (71), Shweta Mansingh (70), amateur Mannat Brar (72), and Jasmine Shekar (75) rounded out the sixth to ninth positions, while three players, including the 2024 Hero Order of Merit champion Hitaashee Bakshi (75), amateur Keerthana Rajeev (73), and Khushi Khanijau (71), tied for tenth.

Among other notable players, Gaurika Bishnoi (77) was T-13, Seher Atwal (80) was T-16, Amandeep Drall (75) was T-18, and Neha Tripathi (77) was T-21.

Sneha Singh, who finished tied fifth in the first leg and won the next two, placed tied third this week, maintaining her lead in the Order of Merit with earnings of Rs.5,76,900. Vani Kapoor moved into second place with Rs.4,54,000, while Jasmine Shekar is third with Rs.3,26,500.
