New Delhi, Nov 17 (NationPress) Star fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has placed South Africa's 30-run victory over India in the inaugural Test at Eden Gardens among the team's top three wins in Test cricket history. Achieved in less than three days, this victory marks South Africa's first Test win in India since 2010, granting them a 1-0 advantage in the two-match series.
"This victory is definitely among the best. Considering the impressive wins we've had this season, it's challenging to choose, but this one is certainly in the top three," Rabada stated in a video shared on the Proteas Men account on ‘X’ this Monday.
Although Rabada was sidelined due to a rib injury, he expressed that observing the match from the bench was an emotional experience. "That was pure Test cricket. The game's ups and downs had us on the back foot at times, yet we managed to finish strong.
"It was nerve-wracking from the sidelines, with an overwhelming desire to join in. But I can’t really explain it. It felt like an emotional roller coaster, and I'm thrilled that we came out on top."
He emphasized the team's belief in every member contributing to secure a win from any situation. "We had a solid start in the first innings with Aiden and Rickelton setting the tone. Marco and Boshie delivered at crucial moments. Everyone made valuable contributions, which truly defines our team spirit.
"No matter who is absent, we find a way to win. Temba has been vital for us but hasn't played every match. I couldn’t play in this game either. What matters is whoever steps onto the field, we trust they will perform."
After securing important 12 points in Kolkata, the reigning World Test Champions, South Africa, are set to face India again in the second Test at ACA Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday.
