Pooja has been sidelined for the third edition of the WPL due to an injury. Parunika, who was previously selected by the Gujarat Giants in the league's inaugural season, will now join the Mumbai Indians squad for WPL 2025.
“The left-arm spinner made significant contributions during the recent ICC Women’s U19 T20 World Cup, earning the title of Player of the Match in the semifinal against England. She joins MI for Rs 10 lakh,” stated the WPL in a release on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have brought in Nuzhat Parween as a substitute for the injured Asha Sobhana. “Parween, a wicketkeeper from Railways, has represented India in 5 T20Is and will join RCB for her base price of Rs 30 lakh,” read the WPL statement.
The defending champions RCB are set to face the Gujarat Giants in the tournament opener in Vadodara on February 14. Conversely, the champions of the inaugural season, Mumbai Indians, will start their campaign against Delhi Capitals in Vadodara on February 15.
The forthcoming edition of the women’s T20 League will unfold across four venues – Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai.
Vadodara will host six matches before the action moves to Bengaluru, where Smriti Mandhana-led RCB will play their first home game against Mumbai Indians at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 21.
