Bengaluru, Feb 26 (NationPress) Fast-bowling all-rounder Jintimani Kalita has been included in the Mumbai Indians squad as captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and decided to bowl first against UP Warriorz in the 11th match of WPL 2025 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.
Both squads enter this match following victories in their earlier games in Bengaluru; however, MI holds a slight advantage with a 3-2 head-to-head record against UPW. A triumph for either team, both currently on four points, will elevate them to the top of the points table, particularly with their positive Net Run Rate ahead of Delhi Capitals.
After winning the toss, Harmanpreet mentioned that Jintimani replaces left-arm spinner Parunika Sisodia, noting the team's strategy to incorporate a pace bowling option due to the conditions favoring seamers.
“In the initial six overs, bowlers are gaining assistance. We have seasoned bowlers ready for the powerplay. We want to leverage that advantage. We are in a positive mindset and discussing good strategies,” she stated.
UP Warriorz captain Deepti Sharma confirmed their lineup remains unchanged. “We would have opted to bowl as well. We batted first against DC. We will maintain the same approach and attitude. We are optimistic, and the entire team is performing well. We are excited for this match,” she expressed.
Wednesday’s clash will unfold on pitch number eight in Bengaluru, where UPW successfully defended a score of 177 against Delhi Capitals, with the square boundaries measuring 55m and 60m, while the boundary down the ground is set at 68m.
