New Delhi, Oct 4 (NationPress) Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf has expressed his support for the national team following their disappointing performance at the recently concluded 2025 Asia Cup, where they secured the runners-up position. He extended his best wishes for the upcoming home series against South Africa.
In a notable match, Pakistan faced a five-wicket defeat against India in the tournament final, with the Men in Blue achieving victory for a record-extending ninth time. This loss marked Pakistan's third consecutive defeat to India at the Asia Cup, with the Suryakumar Yadav-led team also overcoming them in both the group stage and the Super 4s.
Yousuf, a former head coach of the team, emphasized that there is no reason for alarm. He believes that the team simply requires a few months of concentrated and disciplined effort. He expressed his hopes for the team as they prepare for their upcoming multi-format home series against the Proteas.
“There’s no need to panic or overreact — we don’t need miracles, just a few months of focused, disciplined effort. With the right intent, the right people who understand the game, and true teamwork, we can bring this team back to its best and make it great again. Best of luck to the team for the South Africa series,” Yousuf shared on X.
Pakistan will welcome South Africa for a multi-format series, which includes two Tests, three T20Is, and as many ODIs. The Proteas’ tour is scheduled to kick off on October 12 with the first Test, culminating on November 8 during the final ODI.
The first Test will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore starting on October 12, while the second Test is set for the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20.
Rawalpindi will host the first T20I on October 28, and Lahore will stage the second and third T20Is on consecutive days, October 31 and November 1.
The three-match ODI series will be conducted at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on November 4, 6, and 8.
