The gala was attended by several cricketing greats, including Indian legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, along with Brian Lara, Ravi Shastri, Chris Gayle, and former England stars Kevin Pietersen and Darren Gough, among others. The Indian men's cricket team, under the leadership of Shubman Gill alongside head coach Gautam Gambhir, also participated in this meaningful event.
In a heartfelt message on X, Yuvraj stated, "Overwhelmed, humbled, and grateful beyond words! To all my friends, family, former teammates, cricket legends, and the Indian cricket team, thank you for your immense love and support.
"Having battled cancer myself, I understand the uncertainty of each day, yet I also recognize hope—represented by all of you! Your support has been crucial in our mission to stand by cancer warriors in India who continue to fight, dream, and endure.
"Thank you for accompanying me on this journey! We will persevere, we will keep fighting, and we will never relent."
Tendulkar, who attended the event with his wife Anjali and daughter Sara, shared a touching note for Yuvraj, praising his dedication to aiding cancer patients in India.
"Joining @YUVSTRONG12 last night to support @YOUWECAN's remarkable work was profoundly significant. You have transformed your personal struggle into a mission to assist others in overcoming theirs. That truly requires courage. Always with you, my friend," he posted on X on Wednesday.
The YouWeCan Foundation, founded in 2013 after Yuvraj's victorious battle against cancer, aims to raise GBP 1 million to provide essential cancer treatment and educational support for underprivileged families in India.
“YouWeCan was born from my journey and a wealth of compassion, representing our place after cancer,” he stated during the charity event in London. “We assist numerous children from low-income families in their treatment and education, as well as many women battling breast cancer.”
