Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) The authorities announced on Saturday that over 54 lakh LPG refills were successfully delivered the previous day, indicating that the distribution of domestic LPG cylinders remains steady despite the ongoing geopolitical challenges impacting supply chains.
No reports of shortages at LPG distribution centers have emerged, with online bookings for LPG cylinders soaring to 91% on an industry-wide basis yesterday, as per the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
To curb potential diversion at the distributor level, the implementation of Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) based deliveries has risen sharply from 53% in February 2026 to 84% currently.
The ministry also assured that all refineries are functioning at optimal capacity, with sufficient crude inventories secured.
“The nation is actively holding ample stocks of petrol and diesel. Domestic LPG production from refineries has been ramped up to meet local demand,” the official statement confirmed.
Consumers are prioritized with 100% supply to domestic PNG and CNG transport, while industrial and commercial consumers receive 80% of their average consumption.
“Ongoing operations in various States/UTs are being conducted to combat hoarding and black marketing of LPG. Approximately 2,900 raids have been executed, leading to the seizure of more than 1,700 cylinders yesterday. Additionally, PSU OMCs have issued over 390 show cause notices to LPG distributors to date,” the statement revealed.
All retail fuel stations across the nation are functioning normally, following a reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per litre.
“Reports of panic buying were noted in select regions, fueled by rumors that triggered unexpected demand and large crowds at retail outlets. However, adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are confirmed to be available at all petrol pumps nationwide. The government urges the public to disregard these rumors,” the statement emphasized.
