Chandigarh, Feb 14 (NationPress) - Demanding an unbiased investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, accused the Aam Aadmi Party-led government of exploiting its authority and resources to illegally acquire party funds from officials at the Punjab State Power Corp Ltd (PSPCL).

Bajwa stated, “This so-called honest party has shamelessly manipulated the governmental framework in Punjab to extract money primarily to finance the recent Delhi Assembly elections. Through its Cabinet ministers, the AAP intimidated government officials across various departments and forcibly gathered party donations.”

Commending the bravery of the members of the PSEB Engineers' Association, Bajwa noted that they were the first to expose this corrupt practice. “It appears to be an extensive scam designed to forcibly collect party funds from numerous other Punjab government departments through illicit means. This scheme seems to have been in operation since the AAP took control in Punjab.”

“The Vigilance Bureau of the state is already functioning under the influence of the AAP government. Rather than uncovering the truth, the bureau will likely try to bury the issue. Therefore, I firmly demand that the investigation be conducted by the ED or CBI,” the Congress leader emphasized.

Bajwa indicated that a thorough investigation could reveal a significant scam orchestrated by Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, allegedly facilitated by two former senior PSPCL officials, known to be close associates of the minister.

He remarked that while the government has been urging officials to combat corruption, it is simultaneously entrenched in corrupt practices. “The sinister agendas of the AAP have once again been exposed. Numerous ministers and leaders from the party have been linked to serious corruption and extortion cases. However, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken no action against them,” Bajwa concluded.
