Chandigarh, December 4 (NationPress) BJP's Punjab State President Sunil Jakhar accused the Aam Aadmi Party of attempting to unlawfully manipulate the upcoming elections in the state through blatant misuse of police power.
Jakhar asserted that the government machinery is being grossly exploited for this agenda. Consequently, the BJP approached the Election Commission on Wednesday, demanding videography of the election processes.
According to Jakhar, an audio recording of a tele-conference involving senior police officials discussing the use of force during the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections serves as evidence of the erosion of democracy.
In response, the police have dismissed the accusations, labeling the video clip as false. He remarked that while the state’s “rubber-stamp” Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is abroad, former Delhi Chief Minister Manish Sisodia—known for advocating the strategy of “Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed”—and his Aam Aadmi Party are conspiring not just to pillage the finances of Punjab but also to manipulate votes.
Jakhar emphasized that the BJP would vehemently resist such coercive tactics in Punjab. He urged the State Election Commission to recognize its pivotal role in safeguarding democracy and to uphold its impartiality.
He called for an investigation of the audio by an external, unbiased agency, insisting that officials involved in this assault on democracy must be immediately excused from the electoral process.
Additionally, he reminded law enforcement officials that their allegiance lies with the Constitution, not with any individual.
“Thus, they must fulfill their responsibilities,” he stated.
He cautioned the government that the citizens of Punjab will not be silenced. “The schemes to commandeer the electoral process will be thwarted,” he said.
Jakhar informed AAP leaders that time is running out for the 2027 elections, and during those elections, the people of Punjab will ensure that the Aam Aadmi Party faces the same fate here as it did in Delhi.
