Mumbai, Sep 25 (NationPress) - Bollywood and television actor Aasif Sheikh has established himself as one of the most adaptable performers on Indian television. The actor, who has captivated millions with his portrayal of “Vibhuti Narayan Mishra” in &TV's “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai”, has created a unique identity through his versatility and charisma.

Over the years, he has played more than 350 characters, showcasing immense diversity on screen. Notably, many of these roles have involved female characters, a challenge that may intimidate other male actors.

For Aasif, the essence has always been on the craft rather than the gender. In a recent discussion with IANS, he shared insights about his experience, preparation, and the effort required to breathe life into each character. He remarked, “When Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai began, significant research and development went into my roles. Gradually, the team started crafting different characters and looks for me, which the audience embraced with affection.”

Aasif expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am thankful to my directors and writers who believed in me and provided these opportunities. To date, I have performed over 350 characters, with more than 35 being female roles across ages 21 to 80.” He elaborated, “To portray such characters, my initial approach is to explore the variations and the impact they could create. With my team’s assistance, we conduct research, gather references, and create outlines before progressing to costumes and makeup.”

He added, “Once the look is finalized, we define the language, attitude, and body language. Only then do I immerse myself in the situation and perform. This is my process, and I genuinely feel privileged to bring such a range of characters to life.” Aasif further shared, “For me, a character is simply a character. Whether male or female is inconsequential; what truly matters is the authenticity of the portrayal, as I firmly believe it’s about craft, not gender.”

Discussing the challenges of portraying female roles, Aasif admitted, “I won’t deny that playing a female character demands more effort. From costumes to makeup, the entire transformation can take hours. I remember one instance while shooting a popular scene where it took almost two and a half hours to prepare. These transformations require patience and commitment, especially during lengthy shooting schedules. But I find joy in it.”

While Aasif Sheikh achieved significant fame as Vibhuti Narayan Mishra in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, he has been part of Bollywood for over three decades, featuring in films like “Pyaar Koi Khel Nahi”, “Haseena Maan Jayegi”, “Kunwara”, and others.
