Mumbai, May 23 (NationPress) TV actor Abhishek Malik, currently starring as the main lead in the series ‘Jamai No. 1,’ shared insights about his experience portraying a chaiwala during a delightful tapri date scene.
He described it as one of the most entertaining scenes he has filmed recently, revealing that the unique concept immediately thrilled him, as it provided a lighthearted and whimsical method for his character to showcase affection. Discussing the sequence, Abhishek remarked, “This segment was truly one of the most enjoyable scenes I've filmed in a long time. As soon as I learned about the concept, my excitement was through the roof — it was such a charming and silly way for my character to express love. I thought, if I’m going to portray a chaiwala on screen, I might as well embrace it off-screen too! I had no prior experience making tea, but the crew was incredibly supportive.”
“I picked it up quickly and decided to treat my on-screen family and crew with a steaming cup of chai — authentic adrak, elaichi, and laung chai! I aimed to capture that classic, cutting-chai tapri essence. Although I'm not sure if I nailed it, everyone was really encouraging. It turned into a delightful mini-chai session between takes. Everyone was so accommodating, even those who usually don’t drink tea gave it a shot. It truly fostered a warm, joyful atmosphere on set. Moments like these highlight the fun side of this profession,” he added.
In the latest episode, Abhishek Malik transformed into a humble chaiwala to win over his on-screen wife, Riddhi (portrayed by Simaran Kaur). Embracing the nostalgia of an old-fashioned ‘tapri date,’ Neel surprised Riddhi by dressing as a tea seller and offering her a comforting cup of tea.
‘Jamai No. 1’ features Abhishek Malik and Simaran Kaur in leading roles, supported by Aarti Bhagat, Saniya Nagdev, Shruti Gholap, and Vora Dushyant. Sonal Vengurlekar plays the antagonist in the series.
The family drama narrates the journey of Neel, a young man from Nashik, who, despite being raised in a traditional household by his father, a pujari, is determined to carve out his own destiny.
The show airs daily on Zee TV.
