Ahmedabad, Nov 21 (NationPress) The chairman of Adani Group, Gautam Adani, declared on Friday a generous contribution of Rs 100 crore towards the Indology Mission. This initiative is focused on developing the Bharat Knowledge Graph, an innovative digital architecture that is set to safeguard, organize, and future-proof India's civilizational wisdom in the era of Artificial Intelligence.

In partnership with the Ministry of Education’s Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), the Adani Group is organizing a three-day Global Indology Conclave aimed at revitalizing Indology—the international academic exploration of India's civilization, languages, philosophies, sciences, and cultural heritage.

While delivering the keynote address at the event, Gautam Adani expressed, “As a starting point, I am honored to announce a foundational contribution of Rs 100 crore to aid in the establishment of the Bharat Knowledge Graph and to support the scholars and technologists involved in this Indology mission. This serves as a repayment of a civilizational debt.”

The guest of honor at the conclave, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, the Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math, remarked, “Upon assuming my role as Shankaracharya, I declared that my mission would hold significance only when India emerges as the Vishwaguru (global teacher). Today, Gautam Adani's initiative greatly supports that vision of mine.”

The Global Indology Conclave is taking place at the Adani Corporate House in Ahmedabad from November 20 to 22, 2025. In a time when Indology departments are diminishing worldwide, this effort aims to reaffirm India’s ownership of its knowledge systems and present them authentically through research-driven Indian perspectives.

“If a civilization fails to actively defend its cultural and emotional foundations, human behavior may shift away from culture and tradition, gravitating instead towards the cold logic dictated by machine algorithms. This transformation will be gradual and quiet, ultimately redefining how we perceive, learn, and analyze our own nation,” stated Gautam Adani.

Initiated under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, IKS aims to mainstream ancient Indian knowledge across various fields, promoting interdisciplinary research, the preservation of texts and practices, and practical applications in contemporary areas such as engineering, environmental science, linguistics, public policy, and healthcare.

Historically, Indology has influenced global perceptions of India, affecting diverse sectors including linguistics, astronomy, mathematics, governance, literature, and health sciences. However, years of diminishing institutional support have weakened its academic rigor.

To tackle this issue, the Adani Group and IKS are also spearheading a five-year initiative to provide backing for 14 PhD scholars from premier institutions. Their research will encompass topics such as Paninian grammar, computational linguistics, ancient astronomical systems, indigenous healthcare methods, sustainability in traditional engineering, political theory, heritage studies, and classical literature, as stated by the Adani Group.

The selection of scholars was conducted through a meticulous national consultation involving IITs, IIMs, universities focused on IKS, and distinguished scholars.

By merging classical knowledge with cutting-edge tools like data science, systems thinking, and multimodal archiving, the program aims to make Indology pertinent to modern academic discussions and global scholarship, as explained in the statement.

Rooted in the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the principle of “the world as one family”—this initiative embodies the Adani Group’s commitment to enhancing India’s soft power and civilizational leadership, the statement concluded.
