New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) The Ministry of Civil Aviation has mandated all Indian airlines engaged in international flights to consistently monitor airspace advisories, Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs), and route limitations issued by relevant authorities to safeguard passenger safety following the extensive military operations initiated by the US and Israel against Iran this past Saturday.

"In light of the airspace restrictions implemented in the Middle East, airlines are instructed to ensure timely rerouting or diversion of flights whenever necessary, adhering strictly to global safety standards and established contingency planning protocols," stated the Civil Aviation Ministry.

"The safety of passengers and crew is of utmost importance. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is actively monitoring the situation to ensure secure, organized, and efficient air operations. The scenario is being closely observed, and further updates will be communicated as needed," the statement added.

"Considering the rapidly changing situation in the Middle East and its potential repercussions on international air travel, the Minister of Civil Aviation conducted a thorough review of preparedness and response strategies with all relevant stakeholders," the statement revealed.

The review emphasized the importance of passenger safety, operational continuity, and real-time coordination amidst multiple airspace restrictions and NOTAMs issued in various parts of the region.

Airports nationwide, especially major international hubs, are currently on operational alert to handle possible flight diversions, unscheduled landings, and passenger assistance needs.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and private airport operators have been instructed to enhance collaboration with airlines for ground handling, parking bays, passenger amenities, crew logistics, and immigration support as required.

A high-level meeting was convened via video conference, involving the Ministry of Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha and other senior officials from the Ministry, AAI, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), airline operators, and major airport operators across the country.

The DGCA has been advised to maintain close cooperation with airlines to ensure full adherence to safety regulations, crew duty time limitations, and operational advisories.

Continuous monitoring mechanisms are to be initiated to evaluate the evolving airspace dynamics and mitigate any cascading impacts on domestic schedules.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation is also in active communication with the Ministry of External Affairs to guarantee seamless information flow and appropriate coordination in case of any urgent requirements involving Indian carriers or Indian nationals abroad.

Passengers are encouraged to remain in regular contact with their respective airlines for updated travel information and schedule changes.

Airlines have been instructed to proactively inform passengers about delays, rerouting, or diversions to minimize inconvenience.
