New Delhi, Aug 19 (NationPress) BJP leader Amit Malviya on Tuesday delivered a scathing critique of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee following the Supreme Court's rejection of review petitions in the multi-crore teachers’ recruitment fraud, labeling the verdict a “stinging condemnation” of her administration.
Malviya, who heads the BJP’s IT Cell, shared a segment of the ruling on X that underscored significant failings by the West Bengal Central School Service Commission (SSC) and state officials. He remarked that the court’s decision revealed how Banerjee’s “corrupt regime betrayed the dreams of Bengal’s aspiring educators and crushed their ambitions.”
The Supreme Court pointed out that the SSC's inability to preserve original OMR sheets or even duplicate copies made authentic verification unfeasible. The ruling emphasized that the authorities' attempts to cover up errors and illegal actions had compromised the integrity of the entire selection process. “The entire selection must be annulled to uphold the integrity of the selection process, which should remain unblemished and devoid of any such flaws,” the court stated.
While the court recognized that invalidating legitimate appointments might cause “disappointment and distress,” it stressed that “safeguarding the integrity of the selection process is essential” and should take priority.
“The Supreme Court has rejected the review petitions in the West Bengal teachers’ recruitment scandal - a severe indictment of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her government, which has shattered the aspirations of millions of young people,” he stated.
He further commented, “Harsh criticisms directed at the Commission and authorities were absolutely warranted and justified for undermining the futures of thousands of youth. The ruling exposes how Mamata Banerjee’s corrupt regime deceived Bengal’s aspiring teachers and crushed their dreams.”
The teachers’ recruitment scandal has significantly impacted West Bengal's political landscape, with numerous senior TMC leaders already under investigation by central agencies. The Supreme Court's ruling on Tuesday intensifies the political confrontation as upcoming elections approach in the state.
