Key Takeaways
Puducherry, Feb 14 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday urged the residents of Puducherry to maintain their support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Assembly elections, highlighting that it has instilled stability and eradicated corruption within the union territory.
During a BJP public meeting held in Karaikal as part of his one-day visit to the Union Territory, HM Shah commenced his address by offering prayers to Lord Shani of Thirunallar and Goddess Bhadrakali.
He expressed regret for not being able to communicate in Tamil, acknowledging it as one of the most ancient languages globally, and clarified that his visit had two specific goals.
"I am here to share the achievements of the Modi–Rangasamy government in Puducherry and to reveal the shortcomings of the previous administration," he stated.
He asserted that in the last five years, the NDA government has enhanced law and order and initiated developmental progress in the Union Territory.
He reminisced that during the 2021 Assembly elections, the NDA garnered 44 percent of the votes.
"In 2026, we aim to escalate our vote share to 60 percent and secure all 24 seats. The entire 24 seats of Puducherry will belong to us," he declared.
Shifting focus to national security, HM Shah criticized the Congress party, claiming that terror attacks from Pakistan became commonplace during their governance.
He paid homage to the soldiers who perished in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel.
He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India has adopted a more assertive stance against terrorism, including air strikes in Pakistan.
Returning to the state of Puducherry, he reiterated that the NDA government has successfully established political stability and curtailed corruption. "We have created a stable and self-sufficient administration. The textile industry is being revitalized, and new developmental initiatives are underway," he mentioned, accusing the former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy of not launching any new industry during his term.
In conclusion, HM Shah called on voters to reaffirm their trust in the NDA and ensure its ongoing governance in Puducherry.
