Mumbai, Aug 31 (NationPress) Music maestro A. R. Rahman has composed the score for the upcoming silent comedy film, Ufff Yeh Siyapaa. In discussing his creative process for this unique project, the Oscar-winning artist remarked that working on such a film is every composer’s dream.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Rahman was asked about his approach to crafting music for a movie devoid of dialogue. He responded, “This project came to me through Luv Ranjan sir, and director Ashok shared the story with me. He had immense confidence and a distinctive way of explaining everything. I proposed 3-4 ideas, recorded them, and also provided a couple of songs. After viewing the film, I created additional tracks. Some sections were synchronized frame-for-frame, while others were more general, creating a blend of styles and techniques to maintain engagement throughout the film.”
When questioned about the challenges of creating a silent film compared to his other works, he shared, “It’s a composer’s dream to be involved in a project that relies solely on music, so I was eager to take it on—‘Let me do this’.”
Ufff Yeh Siyapaa is a delightful comedy of errors featuring Keshari Lal Singh (played by Sohum Shah), an awkward common man caught in a whirlwind of chaos when his wife, Pushpa (portrayed by Nushrratt Bharuccha), believes he is flirting with their neighbor, Kamini (played by Nora Fatehi). In reality, he is innocent. However, before he can vindicate himself, an incorrectly delivered drug parcel triggers a series of escalating catastrophes, culminating in the discovery of a corpse in his home. As Keshari struggles to resolve the crisis, another body appears, transforming his residence into a full-blown crime scene.
Written and directed by G. Ashok, Ufff Yeh Siyapaa is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 5th.
