Bengaluru, Oct 7 (NationPress) In a strong denunciation of the attack on Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, Karnataka's Home Minister G. Parameshwara called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.

While addressing the media in Bengaluru, Parameshwara remarked, "The act committed under the guise of a comment regarding Sanatan Dharma is utterly condemnable. Notably, CJI Gavai comes from the Dalit community, and his ascent to such a prestigious position is a significant milestone."

"The Chief Justice embodies his community, and an attack on him demands nationwide condemnation and serious attention. I implore PM Modi, Amit Shah, and others in authority to prevent such occurrences and ensure legal measures are enforced in this case," he urged.

Parameshwara further stated, "The act of hurling a shoe at the Chief Justice of India is unacceptable. This transcends an attack on an individual; it is an affront to the office of the Chief Justice and the Constitution itself. This incident highlights a significant security breach at the Supreme Court."

"If such an event can transpire within the Apex Court, the lawyer responsible should have been swiftly apprehended and faced legal consequences. It is perplexing why he was released. Immediate arrest is warranted," Parameshwara insisted.

Commenting on the remarks made about Sanatan Dharma, Parameshwara added, "CJI Gavai has consistently delivered judgments grounded in law and justice. He is incapable of rendering prejudiced verdicts, as all decisions are based within the established legal parameters."

State BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra expressed his views on X, stating, "The incident aiming to demean the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India, B.R. Gavai, who maintains the dignity of the Supreme Court, is highly reproachable. This action constitutes a reprehensible and uncivilized attempt to undermine the sovereignty of the Constitution. The lawyer's behavior is an unforgivable transgression."

"Such actions that insult and disrespect the Constitution and our democratic framework exemplify the pinnacle of rebellion," Vijayendra emphasized.

A shocking incident occurred at the Supreme Court on Monday when an elderly man attempted to throw a shoe at Chief Justice B.R. Gavai during a hearing. The footwear fell short of the bench, and security personnel promptly subdued the individual.

Unfazed by the disruption, Chief Justice Gavai addressed the court, asserting, "I am the last person to be affected by such things," before resuming the proceedings as scheduled.

Eyewitnesses reported that the incident unfolded shortly after the day's first case was introduced. The man, identified as Kishore Rakesh through a proximity card typically assigned to lawyers and clerks, allegedly shouted slogans such as, "India won't tolerate Sanatan insult," before attempting the shoe throw. His motives are currently under investigation by security agencies.

This dramatic event followed criticism aimed at CJI Gavai regarding a remark he made last week during a public interest hearing about the reconstruction of a damaged idol of Lord Vishnu in Khajuraho.

While dismissing the plea, CJI Gavai reportedly remarked, "Go and ask the deity himself to do something," a statement that ignited widespread outrage on social media.

In response to the backlash, the CJI clarified, "I was informed that my statements were depicted in a certain light on social media. I hold respect for all religions."
