Ayodhya, Oct 17 (NationPress) The city is gearing up to present the most extraordinary edition of Deepotsav 2025, an event that promises to be a pivotal moment in India's cultural and spiritual timeline.
With Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the helm, efforts are underway to ensure this year's festival not only surpasses previous celebrations in grandeur but also serves as a beacon of devotion, heritage, and unity among the nation.
As the spiritual heart of India, Ayodhya will soon be aglow with millions of traditional earthen lamps, crafting a celestial vision along the banks of the revered Saryu River. The preparations are being executed with robust backing from the local administration and cultural entities, especially Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, which is taking a prominent role in orchestrating the Deepotsav.
Numerous volunteers and students, guided by Vice-Chancellor Colonel Dr Bijendra Singh, are working diligently at the Ram Ki Pauri ghats in anticipation of the event. On the second day of extensive preparations, volunteers arrived in designated buses from the university campus to aid in the placement of lamps throughout all 56 ghats.
Prof. Anup Kumar, who is overseeing transportation, noted that volunteers gathered eagerly from early morning, invigorating the campus with their enthusiasm and commitment. The volunteers were organized into teams and deployed strategically to ensure a seamless setup of the lighting arrangements.
Dr Bijendra Singh emphasized, “Deepotsav is more than just an event; it embodies a communal celebration of the values and ideals of Lord Shri Ram. Each volunteer is contributing wholeheartedly, treating this as a Ramkarya—a service dedicated to Lord Ram.
As per university reports, over 60% of the lamps have already been installed. Many ghats have successfully met their targets, with the remaining tasks advancing swiftly under the supervision of ghat coordinators.
With chants of “Jai Shri Ram” resonating along the riverbanks and millions of lamps illuminating the sacred city, Ayodhya is set to realize Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of a momentous and divine celebration.
This year's Deepotsav signifies not just the city’s illumination but also aims to elevate Ayodhya's spiritual and cultural identity to unprecedented levels. A grand aarti of the Saryu River is also scheduled, anticipated to break previous records and leave a lasting impression on devotees.
In last year’s event, 1,151 participants collectively performed the Saryu aarti, earning a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. This year, the organizers aspire to double that number. The event will showcase Ayodhya’s spiritual fortitude and collective devotion on both national and international platforms.
The aarti is being organized by the district administration and municipal corporation, with the Vasistha Foundation managing key logistical tasks. Scheduled for October 19 at 5 PM, the aarti venue has been sectioned into 11 zones, stretching from Naya Ghat to Lakshman Ghat, accommodating 200 participants per zone.
Mayor Mahant Girishpati Tripathi is personally supervising the arrangements to ensure a flawless execution. He assured that every effort is being made to make this Deepotsav inclusive, reflecting Ayodhya’s traditions and aligning with the cultural vision of the Yogi government.
On October 17 at 3 PM, a Deepdaan ceremony was conducted as part of the pre-event activities. Participants also engaged in aarti rehearsals to synchronize Vedic chants, lamp lighting, and formations—ensuring the event unfolds with discipline and grace.
