Kolkata, Jan 21 (NationPress) Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee criticized BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato on Wednesday, asserting that despite holding office as a two-time MP from the Purulia constituency in West Bengal, he has not managed to foster development in the region.
During a public gathering in Purulia as part of his ‘Abar Jitbe Bangla’ campaign, Banerjee contrasted the past and present state of development and called for a complete eradication of the BJP from the district.
The Trinamool Congress MP vowed that if this aspiration comes to fruition, he would address all the local residents' requests within six months following the Assembly election results.
Inquiring about the advancements that the BJP MP has facilitated over the 11 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration, Banerjee highlighted the frequent delays of essential trains, such as the Chakradharpur Express and Purulia Express.
“If a single train cannot reach Howrah on time, what has the MP accomplished all these years? Someone who does not address train delays isn't qualified to discuss development. I understand many of your needs remain unmet. However, if the Trinamool secures all the seats in Purulia, I will endeavor to meet all your needs within six months,” he asserted.
Additionally, Banerjee stated, “Within three months post-elections, we will resolve these train delays in Purulia. We will not accept a situation where a 10 PM train arrives the next morning.”
Reflecting on the conditions in Purulia prior to 2011, Banerjee recalled that people lived in fear and uncertainty. He also reminisced about a time characterized by Maoist violence, political turmoil, and administrative dysfunction in Purulia.
Pointing to the enhancements in connectivity and various developmental initiatives, he claimed that after those dreadful days, peace and normalcy returned to Purulia following the rise of the Mamata Banerjee government in 2011.
