In a post shared on X, the office of the Chief Minister remarked: “H.E. Mr. Riaz Hamidullah, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India, made a courtesy visit to Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today at the Chief Minister’s Official Residence.”
The envoy from Bangladesh, following his visit to the ICP and discussions with officials from the Land Port Authority of India (LPAI), conveyed to the media that the connection between Tripura and eastern Bangladesh is quite organic, akin to the rivers that traverse both nations.
He emphasized that the primary focus of the relationship is economic trade. Regarding his interactions with LPAI officials, he mentioned that his two-hour discussion aimed to resolve ongoing concerns, stating that the meeting yielded positive results.
Highlighting the intrinsic, natural, and people-oriented nature of the bilateral relationship, he expressed hope for elevating ties between both nations to new heights.
Throughout his visit, the High Commissioner will also review the Agartala-Akhaura (Bangladesh) rail link project and visit the Nischintapur railway station close to Agartala.

This bridge was jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in March 2021, but has not yet become operational due to a change in the political landscape in Bangladesh.
On Sunday, the visiting diplomat will also pay a courtesy visit to Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu.
Mr. Hamidullah, a 1995 batch officer of the Bangladesh Foreign Service, was appointed as the High Commissioner to India in April this year. Prior to his visit to Tripura, he had visited Assam and Meghalaya.
