New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) - The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has announced an extension of the ongoing Bharat Tribes Fest 2026 at Sunder Nursery in Delhi, now running until April 5, according to an official statement issued on Saturday.

On March 29, the Minister of State (MoS) for Tribal Affairs, Durgadas Uikey, will inaugurate a Van Dhan Conclave, focusing on sustainable livelihoods and enhancing the value of Minor Forest Produce, as detailed in the announcement.

The decision to extend the festival arises from the strong public interest and demand for the various activities organized by the Ministry, in partnership with TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India), the official statement noted.

Initially, the festival was set to conclude on March 30.

This extension is a testament to the enthusiastic participation from visitors, stakeholders, and contributors. It aims to further enhance market access and livelihood opportunities for tribal artisans, entrepreneurs, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from across the nation, the statement elaborated.

The festival has become a vibrant showcase of India's rich tribal heritage, featuring traditional crafts, handlooms, cuisine, and entrepreneurship.

Significant footfall has been recorded, with participation from over 1,000 tribal artisans, Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs), tribal chefs, and cultural groups representing various regions of the country.

The event includes contributions from 78 VDVKs across 22 states, with more than 300 art and craft exhibitors from 28 states, and 120 tribal cuisine participants managing 30 food stalls that represent 21 states.

This extension allows artisans and producers to maintain direct interactions with consumers, ensuring better price realization and increased visibility for tribal products. It also offers visitors an extended chance to experience the diverse cultural expressions of Tribal India.

In addition to exhibitions and sales, the festival continues to host important events such as the Bharat Tribes Business Conclave, CSR Conclave, and thematic workshops, fostering knowledge sharing, partnerships, and capacity building.

As part of the newly extended program, TRIFED will hold a Van Dhan Conclave on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the venue.

This conclave will be inaugurated by MoS Uikey, alongside esteemed dignitaries. It will feature five thematic sessions concentrating on sustainable livelihoods, value addition of Minor Forest Produce, market linkages, and enhancing tribal entrepreneurship.
