Will NDA and Mahagathbandhan Triumph in Bihar Elections?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Nov 5 (NationPress) Both the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan expressed strong optimism regarding their prospects in the Bihar Assembly elections as the first phase of polling approaches. The BJP confidently claimed that the ruling alliance would achieve a significant majority, while opposition parties insisted that the electorate is ready for change.
In a conversation with IANS, BJP Punjab Vice President Fatehjung Singh Bajwa remarked: "The Bihar election is crucial. It will clarify the future for both the Mahagathbandhan and the NDA. While Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav are pushing hard with development narratives, the citizens of Bihar recall the lawlessness that marked Lalu Yadav's era. Thanks to the efforts of the NDA and Nitish Kumar, including the Rs 10,000 aid to women, it’s evident that youth and women favor the BJP and NDA. We are poised for a huge victory."
Santosh Kumar Suman, the National President of HAM and Bihar Minister, shared a similar sentiment, stating: "I believe the people of Bihar have made their choice, and they stand with the NDA. I wish all voters the best, and I'm confident we will easily form the government again and continue Bihar's development."
Conversely, Manoj Jha, RJD's National Spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member, expressed: "What can I say? The campaign is over. Change is imminent. November 14 will mark the beginning of this transformation, with the second phase of voting on November 11 serving as a pivotal moment for the shift."
Sachin Pilot, a Congress leader, added: "In every district I’ve toured, the Mahagathbandhan is garnering substantial support. The BJP seems to be retreating, and there’s no clear indication that Nitish Kumar will be the next Chief Minister; he's merely a figurehead while the people are clearly leaning towards change."
RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari stated: "Tomorrow marks the first phase of the Bihar elections. The electorate is ready to replace this government. We anticipate winning 90 seats just in the first phase."
The first phase of the Assembly elections is set for November 6, covering 121 constituencies across Bihar, which hold significant political and social relevance. The remaining 122 seats will see polling on November 11, with results to be announced on November 14.
In the previous elections of 2020, the Mahagathbandhan—a coalition including the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Left parties, and Congress—secured a strong position, winning 63 out of the 121 contested seats while the BJP and Janata Dal-United combined managed to capture 55 seats.
