Is the Bihar Government Covering Up the NEET Aspirant's Death?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 5 (NationPress) Senior leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Maner MLA Bhai Virendra has accused the Bihar government of attempting to conceal the mysterious death of a NEET aspirant, asserting that there is undue pressure being applied on opposition figures who voice their concerns regarding the situation.
Addressing reporters outside the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Bhai Virendra stated, "The Bihar government is trying to obscure the circumstances surrounding the NEET aspirant's death. The state police are pressuring opposition leaders who are vocal about this matter. The opposition is allowing ample time for the government to take action against those responsible. If no action is taken, we will take to the streets.”
Another RJD MLA, Gautam Krishna, vehemently criticized the NDA government, claiming it is deflecting attention from critical public issues.
"This government is prioritizing trivial matters instead of confronting genuine problems. They are questioning why Tejashwi Yadav traveled abroad. Is this a concern for the average citizen? The pressing issues are unemployment, crimes against women, and justice for the NEET aspirant, which the NDA government is ignoring," he expressed on the third day of the Bihar Assembly's Budget Session.
Gautam Krishna also raised doubts about the integrity of the investigation into the NEET aspirant's death.
"When the SIT was established, I warned that it would be used to manipulate the facts. Now that the cover-up is complete, the case is handed over to the CBI. I ask, under whose authority is the CBI operating? It is under the Centre, and the Bihar government has close connections with it. The victim's family is unlikely to receive justice from the CBI," he claimed.
He insisted that an inquiry should be conducted by a sitting Supreme Court judge.
In response to the state budget, Gautam Krishna accused the Nitish Kumar government of deceiving the public with misleading data.
"The government asserts it is addressing unemployment by establishing factories. I challenge the ruling party leaders to visit Patna railway station and observe the trains heading to Delhi, Mumbai, Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. Who are the individuals traveling in general coaches? Why are they relocating if jobs are available here?" he questioned.
The strong statements from RJD leaders suggest that the NEET aspirant's death case and unemployment challenges are likely to be prominent topics during the ongoing Budget session of the Bihar Assembly, with the opposition warning of protests if appropriate actions are not taken.
