Why is Tejashwi Yadav Criticizing the Bihar Government?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Jan 31 (NationPress) Following the unsettling death of a NEET aspirant, which has now been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), RJD National Working President Tejashwi Yadav sharply criticized the Bihar government on Saturday, alleging a complete breakdown of administrative competence.
In a formal statement, the RJD leader asserted that instead of ensuring justice, the Bihar government has once again showcased its corrupt, inefficient, and unprofessional governance style.
“Rather than addressing the alleged rape and murder of a NEET student, the Bihar government has further confirmed its corrupt, incompetent, and inefficient character by delegating the case to the CBI, indicating that the system is incapable of resolving even such grave matters,” Tejashwi Yadav remarked.
He emphasized that this incident transcends mere police failure, highlighting the complete disintegration of the NDA government’s law-and-order framework.
“This goes beyond just a police failure; it is a reflection of the entire NDA government’s corrupt and compromised system, where ministers and the chief minister boast about apprehending criminals from anywhere in the world,” he added.
Expressing skepticism about the effectiveness of a CBI investigation, Tejashwi Yadav referenced previous cases where the agency failed to secure convictions.
“In numerous instances, such as the Navaruna case, the CBI took 12–13 years to apprehend suspects and even subsequently closed those investigations. This case might meet a similar fate,” he cautioned.
He further criticized the ruling coalition, questioning their silence regarding the worsening law and order situation.
“Where are those who were decrying ‘jungle raj’ during the elections? Who will take accountability for Bihar’s dismal and corrupt law-and-order system? Will the government try to divert public attention once again through media manipulation?” he queried.
Earlier, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary proposed transferring the case to the CBI, which was subsequently confirmed by a notification from Governor Arif Mohammad Khan.
The case has incited significant political backlash, with opposition parties questioning the state government's commitment and ability to deliver justice.
The NEET aspirant was discovered unconscious in her hostel room on January 6 and later succumbed to her injuries at a private hospital on January 11.
Initially, the Patna SSP dismissed the possibility of sexual assault; however, the post-mortem report from Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and the findings from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) contradicted this assertion.
Both reports indicated that sexual assault could not be dismissed.
The FSL report additionally confirmed the presence of male sperm on the deceased's clothing.
Patna Police had established a high-level SIT led by an IG-rank officer, but the inquiry has shown minimal advancement thus far. The SIT has gathered blood samples from over 15 individuals, including family members of the deceased.
The case has now been assigned to the CBI amid rising political pressure for a court-monitored investigation to guarantee transparency and justice.
