Patna, July 14 (NationPress) Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition, has vehemently criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the BJP-led NDA regarding the escalating crime situation in Bihar. He asserts that the law and order framework in the state has disintegrated, while the central government remains silent.
During a press briefing, Tejashwi remarked that Nitish Kumar has exceeded his capacity to govern Bihar.
He characterized the Chief Minister as “unconscious”, “unaware”, and “incapable” of administering the state, suggesting that Bihar is now influenced by leaders of the “Bhunja Party” and retired tax officers acting on behalf of the BJP.
Tejashwi took the opportunity to denounce Prime Minister Modi for overlooking the dire situation in Bihar while concentrating on scripted speeches.
“Murders occur daily. Victims include leaders, police officers, teachers, contractors, lawyers, businesspeople, and medical professionals. I challenge the Prime Minister's silence regarding this. He must clarify his actions to curtail these occurrences in Bihar, where criminals have triumphed,” Tejashwi stated.
He further claimed that even NDA partners in Bihar are expressing alarm over the deteriorating law and order but are met with silence from the government, accusing that “Bhunja Party members have been granted free rein to plunder Bihar.”
Criticizing Nitish Kumar's governance, Tejashwi said, “Officials showcase bridges to the Chief Minister, and that’s where their responsibilities cease. Accountability is non-existent as crime rates climb.”
Tejashwi reiterated his contentious comments about the Election Commission's sources during the voter list revision, asserting that these sources are mere distractions aimed at misleading voters.
He defended his previous statement, noting, “Thus, I maintain that such sources are akin to urine.”
Tejashwi's statements emerge amidst growing anxiety over law and order in Bihar, highlighted by several high-profile murders, including those of a BJP leader, a civil court lawyer, and various traders and industrialists, provoking public outrage.
Simultaneously, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list has become a contentious political issue, with the opposition alleging manipulation, while the NDA contends that the opposition is hindering a constitutional procedure.
